Final Report Card

I am pretty sad that P.E is ending. I am really going to miss fitness but then I came up with an idea. Go to the gym! I am really going to go the gym in the summer all thanks to fitness! Hopefully I will be more fit for next year!

Anyways, I have enjoyed this semester more than all of the others combined. I've enjoyed it more because I know more of the seniors and my mind is a lot more open than it was in the first semester. I never really did the intramurals before but now I did and had lots of fun with it (great job to all of the gym teachers supporting the intramurals).  I was reading my earlier blogs and saw that I said that I don't push myself enough because I am struggling. That's definitely not true anymore. An example to prove that is, while doing our final beep test I tripped (because of Gursimar) and my whole left side, knee and ankle hurt a lot. I pushed as hard as I could and still achieved a 9.5! One of my favorite moments of the whole year was when we did the pond run rally. It was special because I did about 6 or 7 laps and was telling Melvyn that I couldn't do anymore. He just told me to keep going and I did one more final lap. The ticket I got in the final lap turned out to be the ticket that won Melvyn, Kaylem, and I free water bottles! The special moment wasn't even winning the water bottles, but it was doing the extra lap. For my effort this semester I think I performed quite well. I think my effort is what made my semester so much fun. I've never skipped a class and haven't forgot my gym strip once (other than our first class in the first semester). I think that I've helped a lot in this class with things like setting up and cleaning up. Once I was even a bit late for fourth block because I was one of the few people that stayed behind and help cleanup the hockey gear. Some negatives about me though were changing fast enough to get in the gym and not getting injured so much! Also, another negative was not supporting others. This year was really difficult getting into better shape so I didn't have a lot of time to encourage other people. In the upcoming years once I'm more fit, I really hope to be a good leader like some of the seniors. For my letter grade, I hope that I am able to achieve a letter grade like a B or an A.

P.E Is Done

Coming into my first year of high-school I was pretty terrified of P.E because I would be participating  with older students. Now I really enjoy the opportunity I have with them. The older students were actually very helpful and kind. Aside from the students I was VERY scared of fitness.I definitley do NOT feel the same way now, I actually get pretty upset when we have to miss a fitness class for something else. Doing normal things like playing hockey with my brothers, I actually notice how much more fit I am because of it. Maybe that's why they call it fitness, haha. I am actually more excited to do the beep test instead of choice (unless Gursimar decides to trip me again). Overall, P.E is actually extremely fun. I always wonder why some of the seniors complain about doing fitness or even a normal activity. Then I realize they aren't putting in any effort. I thought I just like the activities because I am younger, but I like them because I am actually trying instead of sitting down and saying I sprained my ankle or something. Near the end of the year, they got better though. When we were doing the hide-and-seek thing I overheard some people say this is stupid and stuff like that. Everyone actually enjoyed the activity because everyone participated. P.E has really helped me get through the tough first year because it's a class where I can relax even if we do fitness. Even out side of school P.E has kept me fit. Before I would drink a pop about every two days. Now I literally do not drink pop unless it is some sort of special event or something. I am also excited to say that I actually eat fruit now! It was simple, all I had to do was ask my mom to buy some strawberries and apples then voila! Thank you P.E and Ms.Phillips!

Surrey Minor Ball Hockey

So far playing in Surrey Minor, everything has been great. It has been a joyful and a learning experience. As a goaltender there is a decent level of stress and pressure on me. Although it is still fun, when I win a game it feels great because I am the back-bone of the team and I am showered in appreciation. On the other hand, when I lose it doesn't feel so good. I feel as if I let down my team. Anyways that's not the point of this blog post. In this blog post I am trying to explain how I excersise while playing my favourite sport of all time! Even being a goalie, I still have to have a respectable level of fitness. When you watch goalies play, it does not look like they would even break a sweat. But in reality it takes a lot of work. Say someone passed cross crease, you can either dive across and put your entire body in front of it, or you can simply throw your glove and pads out hoping for the best. Both techniques require flexibility. Before goalie, I was not flexible whatsoever and even had difficulty completing simple stretches. Now before every game I use stretches that I learned from "Insanity". Also my balance has really improved. Before this season, I could barely balance on one foot. But when the opposing team is just cycling in your zone, you have to be ready in your stance. All goalies have different types of stances. For me, I like to be somewhat on my toes so I can easily fall into butterfly. That being said, it isn't so easy to stay in my type of stance so I really had to develop my balance and I have. All in all, I have really been enjoying myself in Surrey Minor and I hope we do well in the playoffs.
